Tuberculosis, an infectious disease commonly affecting the lungs, is now well understood. The disease is preventable and can be cured with proper treatment. Generally, daily antibiotics should be taken for up to a year to eliminate infections and prevent complications as part of treatment for active TB. During treatment, TB patients should eat a healthy diet. Even though there is no specific diet for tuberculosis, having a balanced diet in plenty can help the body fight the disease and speed up the recovery process.

In general, a person with tuberculosis should focus on eating a healthy, well-balanced diet consisting of a variety of fruits and vegetables. The fact is that when you have tuberculosis, your body needs more nutrients than ever before. Malnutrition or underweight have been shown to increase the risk of tuberculosis. It also increases the risk of TB relapse or relapse after treatment.

How to create a healthy diet plan for a person with tuberculosis

Eating a nutritious diet with a variety of healthy foods provides the body with vitamins, minerals, nutrients and other antioxidants. A healthy diet plan can be achieved by incorporating the following food groups into your diet:

Vegetables and Fruits -

 Antioxidant-rich fruits such as greens and spinach, carrots, squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, blueberries, cherries, oranges, and lemons.

Brown bread, brown rice,
Sprouts etc ..

Proteins -

Meat, poultry, fish, eggs, legumes, nuts, legumes and beans, milk and dairy products

Healthy Fats -


Unsaturated fats from olive oil, nuts and seeds.

Reduce tobacco and tobacco products should be avoided


Don't quit or skip

Take TB medication regularly and complete the treatment course as instructed by your doctor. Initially, TB medications may cause some side effects that may lead to nausea, abdominal pain, or decreased appetite. In such cases, always consult your doctor about what can be done to combat the side effects. Staying away from healthy habits and unhealthy habits will make you feel sick faster and you can regain your health.
